EquiPetrol is the first Bolivian company dedicated to the supply of oil equipment for exploration and exploitation of oil fields. EquiPetrol was founded in 1958. Today is a leading company in petroleum engineering, sales, and services. Through its history, EquiPetrol has participated in all areas of the Bolivian oil industry, as well as internationally, in neighbouring countries such as Argentina, Paraguay and Peru.

EquiPetrol has been always characterized by its ability to undertake risky projects and its ability to partner with various companies and strategic partners. At the end of the 1960s, the young company EquiPetrol and French company Languedocienne Forenco brought together experience and innovation to create the company BOLIFOR, with which operations got diversify providing drilling services to the hydrocarbons industry. In the 1980s EquiPetrol acquired all the shares of Bolifor, thus becoming the first Bolivian drilling contractor company. In 1996, Bolifor was sold to Parker Drilling Co.

In the 1970s, EquiPetrol participated in important projects developed in the area of civil construction and engineering.

During the 1980s and early 1990s, EquiPetrol was consolidated as a national leader in the representing and providing oil services to the industry. EquiPetrol developed specialized ''Slick Line'' services, later to become the first Bolivian company specializing in servicing wells completions.

In the middle of the 1990s, EquiPetrol, with other Bolivian partners, led the construction, with own financing, of the cryogenic plant of Carrasco in order to process 70-mmcfd of natural gas from fields Carrasco and Bulo Bulo. Then, after the YPFB capitalization, the plant was sold to Chaco S.A.

In July 1997, EquiPetrol was purchased by a group of current executives of the company, and simultaneously transformed into a limited company, this process would allow the company to be more versatile and be better prepared for the 21st century challenges
That same year, SAN ONOFRE (a company founded year 1965) becomes part of the EquiPetrol Group. San Onofre is a pioneer in the field of industrial minerals and manufacturing of materials for drilling muds. Since its inception, the company has been continuosly providing baryte, bentonite and other materials to the major oil companies that operate and used to operate in Bolivia, as well as oil companies in Argentina, Chile, Brazil.
It is during this new stage EquiPetrol incorporated from 50 to 82 highly qualified employees to its payroll, and also inaugurated its new offices and workshops at km 8 1/2 Doble Via a “La Guardia”, projecting it self more aggressively in order to compete with multinational companies.

In 2000, and through the acquisition of a stock package of MATPETROL S.A. (Company also founded in 1958), undoubtedly EQUIPETROL makes its entry into the upstream oil industry, becoming then an independant field operator company.

This dynamic of business directed EquiPetrol to actively participate in the growth of the national oil industry. With this perspective, and once again having faith in the country, concentrated its resources on a new venture: the refinery Oro Negro S.A., whose main activity is the refining of petroleum crude and condensates, mainly producing: diesel oil, gasoline and LPG.

In 2004, EquiPetrol puts its sights in international projects developed in Argentina, Algeria, Paraguay and Perú. Through these projects EquiPetrol gained more international coverage and experience to its operations.

In 2010, with more than 50 years of existence, EquiPetrol is a solid and strong company with more than 250 permanent employees. It has become one of the largest oil service companies, working firmly, offering services of slickline, Well Testing, design and well completion, artificial lift systems and engineering, fluids filtrations, workover and pulling equipment, high pressure test,  industrial cleaning, sales and services of well heads and christmas trees, downhole and surface pressure and temperature sensors and recording, among others…
